8月6日 ちひろのことば「没後50年 ちひろ忌」

わたくしはただただ祈るような気持ちで描きました。
一枚一枚を、今は永久にかえらない人々への、平和の誓いをこめた献花のように……

いわさきちひろ　1967年

広島で被爆した子どもたちの詩や作文にちひろが絵を描いた絵本『わたしがちいさかったときに』の出版にあたり、ちひろが本の帯に寄せたことばです。

I drew as if I was praying.
One work after another, like flower of offering with a pledge of peace to those who will never return…….

These are the words Chihiro wrote after she finished illustrating Watashi ga Chiisakatta Toki ni (When I Was a Child), Chihiro, a book of poems and essays written by children who survived the atomic explosion at Hiroshima.

生涯を通して、「子どものしあわせと平和」を願い続けたいわさきちひろ。
8月8日の「ちひろ忌」にあわせて、ちひろ美術館（東京・安曇野）のSNSでは、ちひろの作品とともに、ちひろが遺したことばを紹介します。
