8月7日　ちひろのことば

ドロンコになって遊んでる子どもの姿が描けなければ、ほんとうにリアルな絵ではないかも知れない。その点、私の描く子どもは、いつも、夢のようなあまさが、ただようのです。
実際、私には、どんなにどろだらけの子どもでも、ボロをまとっている子どもでも、夢をもった、美しい子どもに、見えてしまうのです。

Children get muddy and dirty when they play. Shouldn’t I depict them that way in order to make them look more like real children? Instead, a dreamlike sweetness always seemed to pervade my illustrations. But no matter how dirty children get, or how ragged their clothes are, I can’t help seeing them as beautiful children whose minds are filled with dreams.

生涯を通して、「子どものしあわせと平和」を願い続けたいわさきちひろ。
8月7日・8日の「ちひろ忌」にあわせて、ちひろ美術館（東京・安曇野）のSNSでは、ちひろの作品とともに、ちひろが遺したことばを紹介します。

Chihiro Iwasaki continued to wish “Peace and happiness for all the children of the world”. On the occasion of “The Anniversary Event of Chihiro’s Death” on August 7th and 8th, we would like to share with you her words and her works.
