8月7日　ちひろのことば

その辺に赤ちゃんなんかいると自分のひざの上に置いておきたい。親はどうしてもさわらずにはいられないものじゃないかしら。私はさわって育てた。小さい子どもがきゅっとさわるでしょ、あの握力の強さはとてもうれしいですね。あんなぽちゃぽちゃの手からあの強さが出てくるんですから。

Whenever I am around a baby, I want to hold the baby on my lap. I think parents naturally cannot help touching their child. I used to hold my son, as he was growing up. When a child grips my finger, I delight in feeling his grasping power. Such soft, chubby hands are astonishingly powerful.

8月7日・8日の「ちひろ忌」にあわせて、ちひろ美術館（東京・安曇野）のSNSでは、ちひろの作品とともに、ちひろが遺したことばを紹介します。
