8月7日 ちひろのことば「没後50年 ちひろ忌」

およばずながら、わたしも長い生命をもった、童画家でありたいと思う。さざなみのような画風の流行に左右されず、何年も読みつづけられる絵本を、せつにかきたいと思う。

Although I might fall short, my wish is to become a children’s picture artist with longevity. I earnestly wish to create picture books that will be loved by people for years and years without being influenced by the latest art trends that seem to constantly change like rippling waves.
