8月6日　ちひろのことば

わたくしはただただ祈るような気持ちで描きました。
一枚一枚を、今は永久にかえらない人々への、平和の誓いをこめた献花のように……

広島で被爆した子どもたちの詩や作文にちひろが絵を描いた絵本『わたしがちいさかったときに』。出版にあたり、ちひろが本の帯に寄せたことばです。

These are the words Chihiro wrote after she finished illustrating Watashi ga Chiisakatta Toki ni (When I Was a Child), Chihiro, a book of poems and essays written by children who survived the atomic explosion at Hiroshima.

生涯を通して、「子どものしあわせと平和」を願い続けたいわさきちひろ。
8月7日・8日の「ちひろ忌」にあわせて、ちひろ美術館（東京・安曇野）のSNSでは、ちひろの作品とともに、ちひろが遺したことばを紹介します。

Chihiro Iwasaki continued to wish “Peace and happiness for all the children of the world”. On the occasion of “The Anniversary Event of Chihiro’s Death” on August 7th and 8th, we would like to share with you her words and her works.
