ルーミー（ペルシャの13世紀の詩人）の詩に着想を得た「暗い部屋の象」は、真実と理解は、光と共感からのみ得られることを私たちに教えてくれます。象に触れる人々のように、私たちひとりひとりは、真実のほんの一部しか認識できておらず、手を携えなければ、誤解の闇に迷い込んでしまいます。国、文化、そして個人がそれぞれの視点を共有し、愛をもって真摯に耳を傾けることによって、明晰な世界をつくりあげるとき、平和は永続的なものとなります。第二次世界大戦終結80周年を記念し、この作品は、友情と共通の理解を通して、私たちを暴力の無い世界の創造へと導きます。

Voices of peace from dark
The book The Elephant in the Dark house , inspired by the wisdom of Rumi, reminds us that truth and understanding can only emerge through light and empathy. Each of us, like those touching the elephant, perceives only a fragment of reality, and without joining hands, we remain lost in the darkness of misunderstanding. Peace becomes lasting when nations, cultures, and individuals share their perspectives and, through love and attentive listening, build a world of clarity. This work honors the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Il and invites us to friendship and shared understanding, to create a world free of violence.

◆絵本でつなぐ「へいわ」のメッセージ
戦後80年ちひろと世界の絵本画家たち絵本でつなぐ「へいわ」の開催にあわせて、本展に寄せられた出品作家からのメッセージ、そして、広島で被爆した子どもたちのことばを、会期中、少しずつご紹介していきます。
