絵本でつなぐ「へいわ」のメッセージ：ウェン・シュウ（コスタリカ）

今日ほど、多様性が不可欠で貴重だと痛感する時代はないように思います。
皮肉にも、この急速なグローバル化の時代は、より多くの分断をもたらしています。多くの人々が混乱し、ときには恐れさえ感じています。そして、私たち人間は孤立しがちで、自分たちと異なる人々を「よそ者」と見なしてしまいます。
自分自身や、身近な人、そして世界の人々を知ることは、だれもが愛とコミュニティを必要とする点で、驚くほどよく似ていることに気づくための第一歩です。それぞれの違いから学ぶこともたくさんあります。自分とは異なる新しい友人をつくることで、探求し、魅了され、学び、そして恋に落ち、豊かな思考と感情の世界へ繋がることができるのです。
生きる喜びにあふれた機会をとらえ、歩みを緩め、心を開いて、周りのすべての人と、つかの間の出来事に感謝しましょう。

I feel like today, more than ever, we need to understand how essential and precious diversity is.
Ironically, this fast paced era of globalization seems to have brought on more fragmentation. Many people feel confused, even fearful, and we humans tend to isolate and we see people who are different as “the other”
Understanding ourselves, our surroundings and those who make up our World is the first step to realize we are comfortingly similar in our essential needs for love and community. It also shows us that there are lessons to be learned in each of our differences. That by making new friends who are different to us, we access entire realms of thoughts and emotions to be explored, to be fascinated by, to learn from and to fall in love with.
Let us seize this joyous chance to be alive, to find a slower pace and open our hearts to appreciate each person and fleeting moment that comes our way.

◆絵本でつなぐ「へいわ」のメッセージ
戦後80年 ちひろと世界の絵本画家たち 絵本でつなぐ「へいわ」 の開催にあわせて、本展に寄せられた出品作家からのメッセージ、そして、広島で被爆した子どもたちのことばを、会期中、少しずつご紹介していきます。
