8/8「没後50年　ちひろ忌」

2024年8月8日（木）、絵本画家いわさきちひろ（1918～1974）がこの世を去って、50年目の夏を迎えます。
ちひろは生涯を通して、「子どものしあわせと平和」を願い、子どもを描き続けました。

ちひろは晩年、激化するベトナム戦争に心を痛め、病をおして絵本『戦火のなかの子どもたち』を描きましたが、戦争の終結を目にすることなく亡くなりました。ちひろの没後50年経った今でも、世界中で戦火がやむことはなく、ちひろが描いた子どもたちは、変わらぬ願いを私たちに伝えています。

ちひろ美術館（東京・安曇野）では、8月8日（木）を「没後50年　ちひろ忌」として、館内にちひろの写真を飾り、ちひろが生涯願い続けた「世界中の子どもたちのしあわせと平和」を、ご来館のみなさまと分かち合う一日にします。

August 8th 2024 marks the 50th summer since Chihiro Iwasaki (1918-1974) passed away.
Throughout her life, Chihiro continued to draw children, wishing for their “peace and happiness”
In her last years, Chihiro, wishing to do something about the Vietnam War, created the picture book, “Children in the Flames of War” though she was already in poor health, but passed away without knowing the end of this war. 50 years after her death, there are still conflicts and wars in this world, and the children in Chihiro’s pictures continue to remind us of her wish.

On August 8th, the Chihiro Art Museum (Tokyo / Azumino) will display Chihiro’s portrait and share with the visitors her wish: “Peace and happiness for all the children of the world”.

Chihiro Iwasaki continued to wish “Peace and happiness for all the children of the world”. On the occasion of “The Anniversary Event of Chihiro’s Death” on August 8th, we would like to share with you her words and her works.

On this occasion, through our museum’s social media, we will introduce Chihiro’s words along with images of her works.
