-
Chihiro Iwasaki“Something very simple, yet very important, can be found in picture books.”
During her lifetime, Chihiro left behind many words in essays, interviews, diaries, and notebooks. In them, she wrote about her convictions about the creation process, her everyday life, and her feelings toward her family. Using Chihiro’s own words as a guide, this exhibition presents sketches and original picture book works, including Ame no Hi no Orusuban (Staying Home Alone on a Rainy Day), which marked a turning point in her creative journey, as well as Senka no Naka no Kodomotachi (Children in the Flames of War), imbued with her wish for peace. Through these works, the exhibition traces Chihiro’s life and career as an artist.
