Kota Taniuchi Exhibition: Follow the Wind

Kota Taniuchi (1947-2019) made his picture book debut in 1969 with Ojiisan no Baiolin (The Old Man’s Violin), which he created at the behest of his uncle, Rokuro Taniuchi. He was the first Japanese recipient of the Graphic Prize Fiera di Bologna for the picture book Natsu no Asa (Summer Morning, 1970), which garnered him attention both in Japan and abroad. In addition to original works from his picture books, in this exhibit we will showcase the cover art that Taniuchi created for such magazines as Shukan Shincho (Weekly Shincho) along with the oil paintings he produced throughout his life.
