Celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the Totto-chan’s Square-Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window Exhibition

Tetsuko Kuroyanagi’s Madogiwa no Totto-chan (Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window) became the first best-selling book after World War II. Known for Chihiro’s illustrations, the book has been loved not only by the Japanese but by people around the world ever since its first publication. 2021 marks the 5th anniversary of the opening of Totto-chan’s Square in Azumino Chihiro Park, and the 40th anniversary of the publication of Madogiwa no Totto-chan. This exhibition focuses on the universal appeal of this book that interweaves Chihiro’s illustrations with Totto-chan’s story.
