<Special Exhibition> Town Painter of Today, Artist of Laughter and Defiance －Yukihiko Tajima Exhibition

Yukihiko Tajima (b. 1940) utilizes a technique known as stencil dyeing with a humorous and keen perspective to express his works. Presently in his 81st year, he vigorously continues to throw himself completely into the creation of his fascinating works of art. In this exhibit, we showcase original illustrations from his first picture book, Gion Matsuri (Gion Festival), the sidesplitting Jigoku no Sobee (Sobei in Hell), and Yanbaru no Shonen (The Boy of Yanbaru) a tale of children living in the modern society. A large installation will also be on display.
