Chihiro Iwasaki, Baby among Tulips, 1971
Chihiro Iwasaki, who was sometimes described as an “artist of flowers and children,” never tired of creating illustrations of children throughout her life. For Chihiro, flowers did not only represent the seasons, they also symbolized the subtleties of children’s feelings and the beauty of limited life. She expressed flowers in free and bold compositions, superimposing them on her depictions of children. In this exhibition, we will explore the evolution of the artist’s works featuring flowers and children and explore the thoughts that lie behind them.
