Stasys Eidrigevičius
(Poland), b. 1949
Born in Mediniškiai, Lithuania, and graduated from the College of Fine Arts and Crafts in Kaunas in 1968 and from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 1973. In 1977, he published his first picture book in Lithuania. Eidrigevičius was awarded the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava (BIB) Gold Plaque in 1979, 1981, and 1989, and won the BIB Grand Prix in 1991. He also received the Premi Internacional Catalunya Grand Prize in 1986. Eidrigevičius moved to Poland in 1980 and is active in a range of artistic fields, including oil painting, posters, objects, prints, cartoons, photography, and the theater arts. His picture books translated into Japanese include The Snow Queen and Hans Naselang. He now lives in Warsaw.
