Born in the small village of Vysoká nad Kysucou in mid-eastern Slovakia. In 1953, he enrolled in the Pedagogical College in Bratislava and studied art and Slovak language. In 1955, Cipár entered the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, majoring in graphical studies and monumental art. In 1958, while still at school, he launched his career as an illustrator with Game for Your Blue Eyes. Over the course of his career, he won many prizes at famous exhibitions, such as the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava and the Leipzig Book Fair, and was also one of Slovakia’s leading graphic designers.
