Born in Moscow, Russia. His parents were artists and his uncle on his mother’s side was a renowned Russian Futurist poet. With the outbreak of World War II, Miturich, 16 at the time, volunteered to join the Red Army and, at the age of 18, joined the frontline troops, which included other military painters such as Evgenii Rachev. After the war, he entered the Moscow State University of Printing Arts and studied art in earnest under the guidance of his father. He illustrated stories by such authors as Samuil Yakovlevich Marshak and received numerous prizes, including the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava Silver Plaque award in 1967.
