Born in Osaka, Japan. He graduated from Tama Art University’s Department of Design and began his career in 1968 as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator, winning the Bungei Shunju Manga Award the following year. His picture books include Mitsurin Ichi Kirei na Hyo no Hanashi (The Most Beautiful Leopard in the Jungle), Ana (A Hole), Kore wa Nomi no Piko (This Is Piko the Flea), Tabi no Sukecchibukku (Sketchbooks from Travels), Neko no Shijimi (Shijimi the Cat), and Gaikotsu (Skeleton). Wada has received many awards across a range of genres, including graphic design, film, book design, and exhibitions, such as the Kadokawa Shoten Non-Fiction Award in 1982, the Kikuchi Kan Prize in 1994, the Blue Ribbon Award for directing the film Kaito Rubi (Mysterious Thief Ruby), and the Mainichi Design Prize in 1997 for his exhibition Jikan Ryoko (Time Travels). https://wadamakoto.jp/
