Born in Tehran, Iran. Encouraged by her older sister, she decided to pursue a career in art. Golmohammadi studied interior design and architecture at an art university in Iran. In addition to teaching art at university, she is active in various fields, including children’s magazine and picture book illustration, television programs, and holding private exhibitions of her photographs. She is highly acclaimed as a modernizer of Persian miniature painting. She received Noma Concours for Picture Book Illustrations honorable mentions in 1988, 1990, 1992, and 2000, an incentive award in 1996, and Second Prize in 1998 for The Elephant in the Dark Room.
