Born in Strzyżowie, Poland. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where she majored in fine arts and tapestry. According to the artist, she started illustrating picture books because she loves picture books and children, and because the apartment she lived in as a student was so small that she could only work on a small scale. In 1983, Gaudasińska won the Special Design Award at the Leipzig Book Fair, and in 1985, the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava Golden Apple for Old Couple. In 1986, she was commissioned to create the UN Peace Memorial Calendar as well as the UNICEF International Peace Memorial Postage Stamp.
