Can Göknil
(Turkey), b. 1945
Born in Ankara, Turkey. She has loved animals since her youth and would visit the zoo every Sunday with her father. After graduating from Knox College in the United States, she completed her M.A. at The City College of the City University of New York, School of Fine Arts, Dept. of Painting. While working as a graphic artist in New York in the early 1970s, Göknil aspired to become a picture book artist. She has participated in the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava, the Premi Internacional Catalunya, and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, and is also active as a tableau painter.
