Chihiro Iwasaki, In the Fresh Green Wind, 1973
Shinshu (another name for Nagano Prefecture) was Chihiro’s “spiritual home”: it was where she experienced the end of the Second World War, created many of her works, and spent precious time with her family.
This exhibition introduces Chihiro’s connection to Shinshu through works such as Hana no Dowashu (Flower Fairy Tales), Manyo no Uta (Verses of Ten Thousand Leaves), and Akamanma Toge (The Akamamma Pass), displayed alongside photographs of Shinshu preserved in her albums and the sketches she made throughout the region.
