Józef Wilkoń (Poland), Self portrait of the artist, 1993
Józef Wilkoń continues to work as an active painter in Poland at the age of 96. His picture books, featuring animals as their protagonists, have been loved in Japan for over half a century.
This exhibition presents picture books and sculptural works from the 1960s through the 1990s, selected from a collection of more than 130 works, with a focus on Wilkoń’s artistic techniques. In addition, through photographs, words, and recent video recordings, the exhibition conveys Wilkoń’s personal charm as an artist and as an individual.
