Chihiro Iwasaki, Girl Holding a Book, 1970
Since childhood, Chihiro Iwasaki read a wide variety of books and blossomed as an artist during Japan’s post-war period, when children’s literature and picture books flourished as part of children’s culture. The books that moved her during her youth are reflected in her artistic creations. In this exhibition we showcase Chihiro’s illustrations and picture books, and through them, ask ourselves what it means to read and create illustrations for books.
