Vlasta Baránková
(Czech Republic), b. 1943
Born in Brno, the Czech Republic. After graduating from art school in Brno, she designed children’s toys and small art objects, after which she started to work as a graphic designer. Starting in 1973, Baránková began illustrating children’s books, worked on the production of television animation, and painted tableaux. She has actively held exhibitions in the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, and Switzerland. Her picture books that have been translated into Japanese include Yasashii Yukidaruma (The Gentle Snowman).
