Closed on Wednesdays except national holidays
When open on a Wednesday that coincides with a national holiday, the Museum will be closed on the following Thursday.
Open every day during Japanese Golden Week holidays (April 27 through May 6) and during the month of August.
The Museum is closed from December 1 through the last day of February and temporarily every two months during exhibition changes.

By Airplane
From Shinjuku and Nagoya Stations, see below.
From Narita Airport to Shinjuku Station
Route 1) Take the Narita Express to Shinjuku Station (approx. 90 min.).
Route 2) Take the Keisei Skyliner to Nippori Station (approx. 44 min.), transfer to the JR Yamanote Line and get off at Shinjuku Station (approx. 20 min.).
From Haneda Airport to Shinjuku Station
Take the Keikyu Line to Shinagawa Station (approx. 16 min.), transfer to the JR Yamanote Line and get off at Shinjuku Station (approx. 19 min.).
From Kansai Airport to Nagoya Station
Route 1) Take the JR Kansai Airport Line to Osaka Station (approx. 1 hr. 11 min.), transfer to the JR Tokai-do Line and get off at Shin-Osaka Station (approx. 3 min.). At Shin-Osaka Station, take the Shinkansen Line to Nagoya Station (approx. 52 min.).
Route 2) Take the Airport Express Haruka on the JR Kansai Airport Line to Shin-Osaka Station (approx. 49 min.), transfer to the JR Shinkansen and get off at Nagoya Station (approx. 52 min.).
From Chubu International Airport to Nagoya Station
Take the Meitetsu Line to Nagoya Station (approx. 37 min.).

Take the Keikyu Bus bound for Hakuba at the Shinjuku west exit bus termninal (approx. 3 hr. 43 min.). Get off at Azumino Matsukawa bus stop. Take a taxi to the museum (approx. 8 min.).
The museum is easily accessible from Shinano Matsukawa station, JR Oito Line: 5 minutes by taxi, 15 minutes by rental bicycle, or a 30 minutes on foot. By car, the museum is located about 30 minutes from Azumino IC, Nagano Expressway.
Excursions
The region in which the Chihiro Art Museum Azumino is located offers easy acces to year-round recreational activities, including picking fruit at a nearby orchard, camping or hiking in the summer months, skiing in winter, and hot springs throughout the year.
Groups
Groups of 20+ will get a JPY200 discount per person on admission and are welcome by appointment. To schedule, please fill out and submit the following application form.
Application for Group visits
Gallery talks are available upon request. Talks, usually conducted in Japanese, last about 10 to 15 minutes and cover the museum’s history, Chihiro Iwasaki, and current exhibitions. For talks in English, please submit a request prior to your visit. Groups of fewer than 20 people are also welcome to make appointments for gallery talks (although group admission discounts will not apply). Visitors are requested to read PLEASE NOTE before their visit.
PLEASE NOTE
Food and drinks are not permitted in the museum except the cafe. Also, smoking in the museum, entering the museum with pets, and taking photographs or video in the exhibit rooms are prohibited.
To protect the artwork, please do not touch exhibited works. Visitors accompanying small children are requested to be particularly cautious.
