    Mother's Eyes

“I cannot draw an unkind mother; she represents motherhood itself,” Chihiro once said. She believed that a mother was both kind and strong, and devoted herself to protecting her children. She believed that this was universal to mothers around the world. Chihiro continued drawing children, wishing for a peaceful world where no children would be hurt. Having drawn many children, Chihiro is often thought to have drawn numerous pictures of mothers and children. However, in fact there are not so many. Even in a picture depicting only a child, the viewer can feel the presence of a mother watching over him or her from the child’s peaceful expression or happy and relaxed posture.
